Admário Ferreira, a trainee at the National Association of Automobile Industry (CEPRA), had an excellent competition and won a silver medal in the automobile mechatronics category at EuroSkills 2016, held in Gothenburg.

This was not the only outstanding result for CEPRA and Ferreira, as he had previously won a gold medal at the national championship. The Portuguese team also won two more silver medals and five certificates of excellence. This success came after many real-work-simulation tests that required knowledge, expertise and focus along with the commitment of contestants and the involvement of the entire delegation team.

Taking part in this competition was a memorable event for CEPRA, since the director of CEPRA, António Caldeira was appointed President of the Hearing Committee, and Eduardo Fonseca was elected by European colleagues as the jury president of mechatronics. The Portuguese team had a total 22 contestants from several occupations.

EuroSkills is the biggest European skills competition. It aims at improving the quality, status and attractiveness of vocational training, while promoting innovation and creativity in the teaching-learning process. Participants from different countries get together and show their skills to peers and the public, observe and compare other methods and techniques, and develop their creativity, quality and autonomy at work. The effectiveness of different vocational training institutions is also assessed through these competitions, so they significantly contribute to upgrading vocational education and training.
