Malta - The first Degrees in vocational education
One recent development in the provision of vocational education and training in Malta was the development of vocational degrees at MQF Level 6 on the Malta Qualifications Framework and correspondingly on the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). This is being considered as a major achievement in Malta as not only has it allowed students within the vocational education sector to reach a Level 6 qualification, but has also provided a wider range of trained workers in response to new needs in the local labour market.
France and Germany lead the way in per student investment in initial vocational education and training
Expenditure on initial vocational education and training helps provide information on the importance and efficiency of the different education system streams. An improvement in public and private investment in VET was specifically called for in the Helsinki Communiqué.
